A South Carolina Police Department has honored one of its officers for rescuing a woman who was allegedly forced to take a suspect from a crime site by driving her away.
The North Myrtle Beach Police Department posted a Facebook message for “Way To Go Wednesday” to recognize Officer Wallace‘s actions during her patrol of U.S. Highway 17 at North Myrtle Beach in the early morning hours on May 28.
Wallace stopped a white Jeep at a highway intersection that morning around 5:30 am. The Jeep had driven through a stop sign.
Wallace was talking to the other passengers in the car when he noticed that the woman driving appeared “distressed.” When the man sitting in the passenger’s seat didn’t look at her, the woman mouthed the words “help me” several times.

The officer heard the woman’s voice and took the man out of the car. She placed him on the back seat in her patrol vehicle.
Wallace returned to the Jeep to speak to the woman who told him “franticly” that the man just shot someone.
A BOLO (Be On the Lookout alert) was broadcast over the radio shortly afterward for a vehicle that had been involved in an incident outside The Waterway House restaurant in the Myrtle Beach region.
