South Korea’s bustling capital is delighted by the drama of the zoo escape of Lonely Zebra.

A young zebra had a rare day out when he ran away from a zoo and trotted around the streets of Seoul, South Korea, before being captured a few hours later.

Sero was reported missing at the zoo at 3:00 p.m. ET (2 a.m. ET) and zoo officials, firefighters, and police officers started a wild chase through the bustling streets of the densely-populated city of approximately 10 million.

After being trapped, the zebra was finally taken by surprise and feigned by a tranquilizer dart. He was then safely returned home at 6 p.m. There were no immediate reports that the zebra sustained injuries or caused property damage.

Cho stated that Sero’s behavior has changed since the death of his parents, which left him alone in his enclosure.

She said that Sero’s “misbehaving began especially after he lost his father” in 2022. “He refused to go back to his pen, and he ignored the calls of his handlers.”

Cho stated that Sero has a curious personality and would look through the fence at the kangaroos next door. They didn’t take him in.

Cho stated that while there was nothing serious, Sero might be bit by the kangaroos from time to time.
