Tennessee Gov. National Guard Troops are sent to the Southern Border

The Volunteer State, indeed.

The Volunteer State is a fact.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has responded to Texas Governor Greg Abbott by sending National Guard Troops in order to help secure the southern border. He says America faces an “unprecedented crisis at the border.”

Lee, in a press release obtained by The Daily Wire, said that “America continues facing an unprecedented border crisis which threatens the security of our nation and the safety for Tennesseans.” The federal government has a duty to Americans to provide a plan for securing our country. States are still responding to this call. I authorize the Tennessee National Guard once again to assist in securing the Southern border. I commend the troops for their critical support.

Lee has sent 100 troops.

The Governor’s Office stated that the Tennessee troops would help Abbott with “Operation Lone Star” by patrolling along the border and clearing roads. Lee had also sent 50 troops to border in December of 2021.

The men and women in the Tennessee National Guard will always be ready to serve anywhere, at any time, said Brigadier-General Warner Ross, Tennessee’s Adjutant General. These troops will continue the long-standing tradition that we have of helping our fellow Americans. The Tennessee National Guard takes pride in serving and supporting our state partners to safeguard the United States along its southern border.

In April, more than 211,000 encounters with migrants were recorded at the southern border.
