Texas border officers arrest human smugglers and illegal immigrants following high-speech chase

Border authorities in Texas were led on a high-speed chase that ended with a car crash and multiple people — including three illegal immigrants — arrested.

Officials said Wednesday that a suspected human smuggler, carrying six illegal immigrants from Texas, led authorities on a high speed chase. He crashed near a shopping center.

DPS agents detained the driver and passenger, both 17, for human smuggling. The U.S. Border Patrol was referred to three of the illegal immigrants. Olivarez stated that the passenger was in possession a handgun.
