Officials said Wednesday that a suspected human smuggler, carrying six illegal immigrants from Texas, led authorities on a high speed chase. He crashed near a shopping center.
Agents from the U.S. were led by a human smuggler. Border Patrol and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), led agents from U.S. on a high speed chase in McAllen Texas, which is close to the U.S.-Mexico frontier.
Texas DPS Lt. In a tweet, Chris Olivarez stated that the vehicle crashed near a shopping mall. He said that the driver, six passengers, and six illegal immigrants fled on foot.

DPS agents detained the driver and passenger, both 17, for human smuggling. The U.S. Border Patrol was referred to three of the illegal immigrants. Olivarez stated that the passenger was in possession a handgun.
He stated that the arrest was part Operation Lone Star, a Texas governor’s initiative. Greg Abbott will help secure the Texas-Mexico frontier.
