The director says that if there’s a sequel to “The Flash,” Ezra Miller will not be recast.

Ezra Miller will continue being the Flash as long as Andy Muschietti is involved in the Warner Bros. superhero franchise, the director said.

The director of Warner Bros.’ superhero franchise said that Ezra Miller would continue to be the Flash so long as Andy Muschietti continues to be involved.

Muschietti stated that despite Miller’s legal problems and allegations of abuse , he does not plan to recast him.

Muschietti replied, “If it happens, then yes.” Muschietti also confirmed that Miller would be returning as the Flash. “I don’t believe anyone else could play that character better than they did. They excelled at this vision, despite the fact that the other portrayals of the character were great. As you mentioned, it’s like the Barrys were made for this character.

Barbara Muschietti, the producer of “The Flash”, added: “Ezra was the most brilliant, committed, and professional [actor] in principal photography.” Ezra was committed to this role – physically, creatively and emotionally. “They were supreme.”

Miller was charged with burglary in Vermont last year. In 2020, Miller made headlines when a recording of him choking a female outside a bar in Iceland surfaced. No charges were brought. The actor was arrested twice in Hawaii 2022. Once for disorderly behavior and harassment. Miller was charged with a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct in Hawaii. He paid a fine of $500 and court costs totaling $30. The harassment charge has been dismissed.

Variety reported exclusively last August that Miller sought treatment for “complex psychological issues” following “a period of intense crisis”.

Miller apologized to all those who were upset and alarmed by his past behavior. “I am determined to do the work necessary to return to a safe, healthy and productive phase in my life.”

It’s not clear if the tentpole starring Miller will receive a sequel. (Big box office gross will certainly help.) James Gunn, Peter Safran and DC Studios are the new leaders. However, their first slate announcement didn’t include any information on a sequel for Miller’s The Flash. Gunn called the film “one of greatest superhero films ever made” while Safran said Miller’s future in the role as the Flash is dependent on his continued recovery.

Safran stated in January that “Ezra has a complete commitment to their recovery.” “And we fully support that journey they’re currently on.” We’ll decide the best way forward when the time is right and they’re ready. Right now, their focus is on recovery. In our conversations with them in the past couple of months, we feel like they are making huge progress.”

Warner Bros. released “The Flash” as a whole at CinemaCon, in April. Journalists in attendance gave the tentpole a positive first reaction. Andy Muschietti said to the press that “Ezra has recovered.” We all hope they recover… They’re making the necessary steps towards recovery. Although they are dealing with mental issues, they’re doing well. “We spoke to them a few days ago and they are very committed to getting well.”

Paul Austerberry, the production designer for “The Flash”, said in an interview earlier this month that moviegoers will “forget” Miller’s history when the film opens.

Warner Bros. releases “The Flash” in theaters across the country on June 16.
