Residents and businesses in the area of an oil tank farm in Louisiana were ordered to evacuate and shelter in place after a part of it caught fire Saturday and produced a plume in the Lake Charles region.

Calcasieu Refining Co. has not reported any injuries. The refinery didn’t return phone calls for comment.

According to the Lake Charles Fire Department, the outer limits of the shelter-in place order were reduced from five miles to three miles.

The fire department issued a press release describing the fire as “crude tank fire”.

Harbor Police is investigating the cause of this fire. The Port Director Ricky Self said to NBC affiliate KPLC Lake Charles that another fire occurred on the grounds Thursday. It may have been started in an area that was used for storing motor oil for company vehicles.
