A man and his 8 year-old son were found dead in a Massachusetts home in what officials are calling an apparent murder-suicide, four years after the child's mother went missing under mysterious circumstances.

The man and his son, aged 8, were found dead at a Massachusetts house in an apparent murder-suicide. This happened four years after the mother of the child went missing in mysterious circumstances.

George Scott III, his son Dante Hazard and their home in New Bedford were discovered dead after a police check on the pair was conducted Friday morning.

The release states that “it appears from the evidence found at the scene that it was a murder-suicide.” “Mr. Scott seems to have killed the child with a sharp item before taking his life,” says the release. The medical examiner will confirm these details and more.

As of Saturday, the motive for this murder-suicide remained unclear.

Scott is the child of Red Sox Hall of Famer George Boomer Scott who played in Boston between 1966 and 1971, and again from 1977 to 1979.

Dante is Scott’s son, along with Lisa Hazard. Lisa Hazard disappeared in 2019 when she was 28 years old.

Hazard was last spotted leaving Scott’s house on March 3, 2019, to go to a rehab center for drug abuse. She has never been seen again.

Scott was considered a person-of-interest in the disappearance of Hazard. A search warrant was executed by detectives at Scott’s house over two weeks earlier.

The district attorney’s statement said that “These search warrants were sealed by the Court as part of an ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Ms. Hazard.”

Hazard’s disappearance continues to be investigated.
