The U.S. Coast Guard ended its search for a Louisiana teen who went overboard on a sunset cruise to the Bahamas Wednesday night.

After a two-day search led by Royal Bahamas Defence Force, the agency announced that it had concluded its search for Cameron Robbins (18), a recent high-school graduate.

The agency didn’t clarify whether a body had been found.

Louisiana State University confirmed that Robbins and other Baton Rouge teenagers were in the Bahamas to celebrate their high school graduations. They stayed at the Atlantis Paradise Resort in Nassau.

Robbins graduated on Sunday from University Lab High School which is part of LSU. LSU says that the trip was not sanctioned by the school.

According to a press release, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force called the Coast Guard on Wednesday night at 11:30 pm after Robbins fell from the Blackbeard’s Revenge cruise ship.

Lt. Commander Matthew Spado is the Coast Guard liaison to the Bahamas. Our Coast Guard command centre and aircrews based at Miami have supported RBDF’s search and rescue effort since the initial report on Wednesday evening and through Friday evening.

Search and rescue teams searched over 325 square miles for Robbins.

According to the Coast Guard, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force has suspended the active search pending further developments.

Spado expressed his condolences “to the family and friends of Cameron Robbins.”
