TIME’S UP, JOE! House GOP Launches Probe Into Horrible Afghanistan Withdrawal

With the GOP in control of the House, we may finally get some answers on what happened in Afghanistan.

With the GOP in control of the House, we may finally get some answers on what happened in Afghanistan.

According to an Axios report, House Republicans are officially launching an investigation into Joe Biden’s botched Afghanistan withdrawal that left 13 Americans and roughly 200 Afghans dead.

Ranking member and soon-to-be chair of the House Oversight Committee Rep. James Comer (R-KY) is requesting documentation and declassification of materials from several agencies involved.

From Axios:

It’s the start of an investigation into an evacuation of unprecedented scale that saw more than 120,000 people airlifted out of the country after the Taliban swept into Kabul.

This investigation is likely to be taken more seriously by the White House compared to GOP probes into Hunter Biden and calls for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to resign.

[Comer] crafted an internal memo alleging “illegal” obstruction by the Biden administration, after receiving new material from the official watchdog overseeing Afghanistan reconstruction.

The GOP memo describesa pattern of obstruction by the Biden Administration” using emails John Sopko, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), provided to the committee.

Comer shared news of the probe on Twitter:

“The botched Afghanistan withdrawal resulted in U.S. service members losing their lives, thousands of Americans abandoned, billions of taxpayer dollars lost, military equipment lost, and the entire region falling under hostile Taliban control. @GOPoversight will get answers.”
