TIME’S UP! Kristi Noem, South Dakota Governor, Bans TikTok on State Issued Devices

Kristi Noem, South Dakota Governor, recognizes the dangers in TikTok’s Chinese social media app. She signed an Executive Order this Week banning the app from all state-issued devices. This is to stop China’s intelligence gathering.

Noem stated that South Dakota would not participate in intelligence gathering operations by nations that hate us. “The Chinese Communist Party uses the information it collects on TikTok in order to manipulate the American people. They also gather data from the devices that can access the platform.”

“Because we have a serious duty to protect South Dakota citizens’ private data, we must immediately take these steps. She said that she hoped other states would follow South Dakota’s example and that Congress should also take more drastic action.

The Hill reports that Brendan Carr, one the five commissioners for the Federal Communications Commission, stated to Axios earlier this month in an interview that the federal government should prohibit TikTok.

Carr stated that he doesn’t believe there is any other way forward than a ban. “There is simply no world where you can provide sufficient protection for data to ensure that it doesn’t find its way back into [Chinese Communist Party]’s hands.”

Noem was stopped by Hannity in order to discuss the TikTok Ban.

Noem states that downloading TikTok by state officials will make it a crime.
