Matteo Bruni, the Vatican’s spokesperson, did not give any additional details about the health of 86-year old Roman Catholic leader.
Bruni responded to a journalist’s question about why no one was listed in his daily schedule for earlier that day.
Francis spent 5 days in a Rome Hospital at the End of March due to bronchitis. recovered rapidly following an antibiotic infusion and returned to work, including a 3-day trip to Hungary towards the End of April.
He seemed tired at a Thursday afternoon meeting with students in the vicinity of the Vatican.
Francis, the pope who was elected 10 years ago, has a missing lung. He had it removed as a young boy in Argentina.
The pope has not cancelled any of his scheduled events and is expected to preside over a Mass celebrating Pentacost in St. Peter’s Square on Sunday.
