According to the Leawood Police Department, the incident occurred Monday. “First responders were dispatched for an injury accident with a vehicle on fire in Leawood’s Tomahawk Creek Trailhead Parking Lot at 117th Street and Tomahawk Creek Parkway.”

Leawood Police Capt. Brad Robbins, Leawood Police Capt., said that she learned from her family that the woman will survive but that she will need to recover slowly.

The department released a statement saying that the preliminary investigation indicated that the woman’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on Town Center Drive, Roe Avenue, and did not stop at the Tomahawk creek Parkway intersection. She continued into the parking lot for trailhead where she struck a second car as well as a tree. The impacts set the vehicle ablaze. ”

The woman was taken to a local hospital, and the investigation is ongoing.
