Virginia homeowner shoots the intruder who broke into his home

Fairfax, Virginia police said an Oakton man shot and killed an intruder who broke into his home on Waples Mill Road on Wednesday night.

Fairfax, Virginia police responded a report of a shooting at Oakton’s home. They found a dead man at the scene, who had allegedly broken into the house.

Fairfax County Police tweeted at 6:50 p.m. that officers were on the scene of a fatal shooting at an Oakton home at Waples Mill Road.

According to the tweet, a man was declared dead on the spot.

The tweet stated that all parties were accounted for and there was no ongoing threat to the community. “Detectives are on the scene and a PIO is responding.”

According to police, the homeowner and the intruder had an altercation outside. The homeowner then returned inside and bought a gun. He then entered the house carrying a large landscaping rock.

According to police, the homeowner shot and killed the man after calling 911.
