White House memo: GOP telling the truth about Hunter Biden’s investigation motive

In a new memo obtained first by NBC News, the White House said Republicans in the House are “admitting” investigations into the Biden family are political.

WASHINGTON – For months now, the White House accuses Republicans of using their oversight powers in Congress to launch politically motivated attacks on President Joe Biden.

The White House now says that the Republican Congressman who is leading the investigation into the finances of the Biden Family makes their case on their behalf.

In a memo first obtained by NBC News by White House spokesperson Ian Sams, MAGA Republicans led by Oversight Committee Chair James Comer “admit” that congressional inquiries into the Biden Family’s finances is an attempt to harm the president politically.

He said, “[E]xtreme MAGA House Republicans have been caught doing something that they seldom do: telling truth.” “They admit through their words and actions that these so called ‘investigations,’ in reality are not intended to reveal facts, but to harm the President’s reputation.”

Sams said that Comer’s comments in an interview with Fox News, linking the probes and Biden’s poll results made this clear.

Comer, when asked Monday about the impact his investigation had on Biden’s political standing in 2024, said that it “absolutely” moved the needle.

He said, “There is no doubt.” You can see that Donald Trump has a 7-point lead over Joe Biden in the current polls, with a trend upwards. Joe Biden is on a downward trend. “I believe the media are looking around and scratching their heads, realizing that the American people have been following our investigation.”

Comer claimed in the past that his investigation was not politically motivated.

Sams argued this shows the Republican motivations.

Comer, who had previously claimed that his investigation was unbiased and not political, boasted on the Fox broadcast that his investigations were’moving needles’, but not because they have uncovered any facts, but because (falsely) he stated that President Biden’s poll numbers “trending down,” he added.

Comer, a Republican member of the House Oversight Committee, is investigating payments made by foreign countries to Biden family members including Hunter Biden (son of President Biden) and James Biden.

Comer released a memo earlier this month arguing that Biden’s family activities in Romania are “clear indications” of a plan to sell influence between 2015 and 2017.

Comer suggested that Biden’s family business connections overseas may have improperly influenced him while he was vice president. The Kentucky Republican, despite months of teasing the paper trail, has not revealed any payments directly made to Biden, either before or after he left the Obama White House.

Sams pointed out reports that drew a comparison between Comer’s remarks and an eight-year-old moment when Kevin McCarthy tied the House Republicans’ Benghazi probe to Hillary Clinton’s slipping poll numbers.

McCarthy was quickly dropped from the race for the speakership after Republicans backed off the remarks.
