Zelenskyy thanked G7 for F-16 soldiers and Bakhmut echoed Hiroshima.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy drew parallels between the horror of Hiroshima and the destruction of the city of Bakhmut at the Group of Seven summit in Japan on Sunday.

On Sunday, the Group of Seven Summit was held in Japan. The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a comparison between the horror of Hiroshima as well as the destruction of Bakhmut.

Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian leader, denied that Russia was in control of the battle-scarred Bakhmut city in eastern Ukraine. He also said it would be unfair to compare Bakhmut with the first nuclear attack.

He said that photos of Hiroshima where the U.S. dropped the atomic bomb on the city in 1945, “absolutely reminded me of Bakhmut” and other similar cities.

He said that “absolutely nothing is alive there. All buildings are destroyed. There is no way to tell where a road is or where a building. Absolute total destruction. “Nothing left, no one left.”

He said that Hiroshima is “a modern, vibrant city, where people and values are respected.” He added that he thought the same thing would happen to Bakhmut, and other towns and village.

Zelenskyy wasn’t expected to attend the summit, but he was welcomed warmly by other leaders. He met President Joe Biden on Sunday.

He said that Ukraine expected to receive “high quality weapons” from all the countries of the G7. This includes Britain, France Germany, Italy, Japan Canada and the United States.

He said, “We’ll get the jets.” “I cannot tell you how many jets we have, it’s not a secret. I don’t really know.”

His comments followed Wagner’s mercenary leader Yevgeny Prgozhin who claimed that his fighters had led the expensive Russian push to Bakhmut and finally captured the town. In a Telegram message, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Bakhmut’s “liberation was complete”.

Zelenskyy, in a denial of the allegations, said that his forces “held on” to their positions and were “fighting due to the courage and intelligence of our people and our warriors.”

Moscow concentrated on seizing Bakhmut during the winter, hoping for a much-needed success that could serve as a steppingstone to the rest surrounding industrial heartland of the Donbas.

Ukraine tried to wear down Russian troops by forcing an extended fight, which turned out to be the longest and most bloody of the war. This bought time for the Ukrainian military to prepare its crucial counteroffensive.

Zelenskyy has refused to give any details about the location of Ukraine’s strike.

He said that “Russia will feel the impact of a counteroffensive.”
