The New Years Eve celebrations at New York City’s Time Square, which drew over one million attendees, required a large cleaning crew.

Every year, the holiday offers people a chance to start anew. In that spirit, DSNY was proud to provide a clean, safe street in Times Square.

According to the city of New York, around 187 workers of New York City Department of Sanitation (the world’s largest municipal sanitation agency) cleared more than 100,000 pounds of New Year’s Eve confetti inside Times Square by the morning of New Year’s Day.

The city said that workers picked up litter using 21 mechanical brooms, 20 collection trucks and brooms, as well as backpack blowers and brooms.

The New York City Department of Sanitation removed 100,000 pounds of confetti from Times Square.

The NYC sanitation department shared a message on X (formerly Twitter) that said, “If you walked into Times Square today, you wouldn’t know that the biggest party in the World was held there just eight hours ago.”

After a million people gathered to welcome 2024 in Times Square, 187 workers used 21 mechanical brooms, 20 collection trucks and brooms, as well as backpack blowers and brooms.

The Commissioner Tisch said that the celebrations this year attracted a large number of partygoers.
