Adam Montgomery, a New Hampshire father accused of killing his daughter and covering it up for over two years, has fought evidence that, according to prosecutors, shows him purchasing chemicals and power tools which could have been used to dismember a body and hide the body .
Montgomery’s public defense attorneys filed a document last month to stop the prosecution from presenting evidence that the 33 year old bought 80 pounds lime, a blade with a diamond edge and a grinder at two Home Depots about a week prior to his being accused of renting a UHaul and disposing of her remains outside Boston.
The defense wrote that there was no evidence to link the Montgomerys’ purchases with lime.

The prosecution countered that the purchases were key circumstantial proof.

The state prosecutor wrote against the defense motion that “the evidence of Home Depot purchases is relevant as it is circumstantial proof connecting the defendant with an ATM withdrawal and the lime he bought to conceal and dispose Harmony Montgomery’s body.”
Kayla Montgomery (Harmony’s stepmother) told police that her husband thought the lime would decompose Harmony’s corpse without it being noticed, according to a court document.
The specifics of her statements to detectives involved graphic abuse against a minor.

Prosecutors wrote that “Kayla wasn’t aware whether the defendant used any tools. She said that when the defendant took a break in the bathroom he told her that he would ‘try and like cut her up’.” She also said that the defendant tried to “squish” and “bend” the corpse in order to make more room for the lime.
