In a recent interview with Breitbart News former president and 2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump expressed his views on Jack Smith. “I think [Smith] feels he is losing politically because I am leading everyone by a large amount,” Trump said.

“I’d lead anyway, but not by this much.” They are very angry at the weaponization of a political rival, or a person who is so stupid that they take over the Justice Department (DOJ) — you can easily figure this out, because it happens in many countries. But they’re mostly third-world nations and banana republics. People don’t like it when someone uses the FBI, DOJ and all other means to pursue a political rival. This is the most militarized country. We are not respected. Joe Biden [Democratic President Joe Biden] does not deserve respect. Our country is not respectable. This guy’s three-year impact on this country is incredible. You know, in many of my speeches, I use a phrase that says if you add all the worst presidents of our nation’s history — the 10 worst, you can add them cumulatively — none of them have done as much damage to our country as Joe Biden.

Trump moved the court on Thursday to hold Smith in contempt for continuing to file documents despite the stay of proceedings in the federal court case from January 6, Washington, DC. The case has been put on hold despite the looming March trial date. This is because Trump’s appeals are still being processed. Trump claims he’s immune from prosecution, because his actions in the run-up to the January 6, 2021 election were official acts he performed as then-president.

Trump told Breitbart News the recent filings Smith made in court, asking for the court to stop Trump from talking about the then-House speaker Nancy Pelosi refusing to accept his offer to deploy thousands of soldiers to the Capitol on January 6, 2021 – one of Trump’s key defenses that day because Pelosi refused to accept his offer to sent thousands of troops to Capitol – is a sign Smith knows that he’s losing the public opinion war on this front.

In an interview with The Washington Post on Sunday, December 28, Trump stated: “I find the filing that he did this weekend to be absolutely ridiculous.” It’s the most bizarre thing I’ve seen. I can’t talk about Nancy Pelosi refusing 10,000 troops? Can’t I speak about him? He does not want me to talk about him. They can speak and indict me and have press conferences but I cannot defend myself. Which means he must think I am very effective in defending myself.”
