Police said that a crash between a schoolbus and a coal-truck on an eastern Kentucky road Friday afternoon sent twenty children and the driver of the bus to the hospital. However, none were seriously hurt, they added.

Matt Gayheart, a trooper with the Kentucky State Police , said that the crash occurred shortly before 1:30 pm on Highway 932. Gayheart stated that the collision caused the bus to crash over an embankment into a creek. The cause of this crash is still being investigated.

Twenty children were hospitalized after a collision between an coal truck and a bus on Friday.

The bus transported students from Arlie Boggs Elementary School in Eolia.

The district announced on social media that Letcher County Public Schools released students earlier than usual due to high winds and power failures. The district’s office did not answer Friday afternoon phone calls seeking further information.

News outlets reported that the truck driver suffered minor injuries, but did not seek medical attention.
