While addressing attendees at a meeting of the Reproductive Health Task Force at the White House on Monday, 81-year-old President Biden mixed up HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas while addressing his gender policy advisor, Jen Klein.

“Where’s Jen sitting? There you are, Jen,’”Biden said, pointing to his right. “Thank you. And Secretary Becerra, sitting right next to her, for the leadership in this task force,” he continued, name-checking Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra.

But it wasn’t Becerra —it was Mayorkas. Becerra didn’t attend the meeting in person.

The glitch came just minutes after White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre defended Biden’s mental sharpness and accomplishments – during a week when rival Donald Trump’s own mental fitness is under attack following his own mixup of rivals Nikki Haley and Nancy Pelosi.

Jean-Pierre faced a question from Peter Doocy of Fox News about why Americans feel Biden is getting less mentally sharp, referencing recent polling data on the topic.

‘I have to say that’s a little confusing for me, because if you look at what this president has done in the last three years, historical pieces of legislation, right?’ When it comes to bipartisan infrastructure deal, many presidents before – like your favorite president,’ she told Doocy, in an apparent reference to Trump in a characterization Doocy disputed.
