Failed border boss DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas sat down with CBS News’ Face the Nation over the weekend to predictably shift blame for the murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley.

Riley was brutally beaten and killed by an illegal immigrant while she was jogging. Mayorkas is taking no accountability for his department’s failed border policies without which this murder never would have happened.

“A 22-tyear-old nursing student, Laken Riley, in the state of Goergia was murdered allegedly by an undocumented Venezuelan migrant. The suspect had been detained by border patrol upon crossing — released with temporary persmssion to stay in the country,” host Margaret Brennan said to Mayorkas.

He then went on to commit crimes twice: once in New York for driving a scooter without a license and once in connection with a shoplifting case in Georgia…should this man have been deported?” Brennan asked the DHS Secretary.

Mayorkas read from prepared cards and seemed to avoid saying Laken Riley’s name.

He also put the blame for the murder entirely on the illegal migrant, ignoring the failed policies that set the stage for the horrific tragedy.

“As a prosecutor, having prosecuted violent crime and other crimes for twelve years, one individual is resposinble for the murder and that is the murdere,” Mayorkas said.

“Was there a breakdown in the system?” Brennan pushes Mayorkas.
