Former NFL running back OJ Simpson has died of cancer according to a statement from his family; he was 76. Simpson died in Las Vegas, where he underwent chemotherapy after a prostate cancer diagnosis, his family confirmed.

His family shared the news on X.

“On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace.”

Simpson played 11 seasons in the NFL.
