Senator Elizabeth Warren, D.Mass., criticized Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell during a Sunday interview on NBC News’ “Meet the Press”. She said he had “failed” in his duties and should not be in that role.
“He’s had two jobs. The first is to handle monetary policy. One is to address regulation. She said that he has failed in both.
“Look, I don’t believe he should be the chairman of Federal Reserve. It is something I have repeated publicly. Warren, who is a member of the Senate Banking Committee, said that he has said it to all.
Donald Trump nominated Powell in 2017. He has been criticized for his handling of banking regulations after the collapse at Silicon Valley Bank.
Warren is pushing for tighter banking regulations.
